Aiming to Be a Corporate Group Where
the Next Generation Can Take on
Challenges with Pride and Passion
The Rengo Group has long been committed to building a production system with a low environmental impact. This commitment extends not only to our core product, corrugated packaging, but also to packaging materials derived from petrochemicals. We are advancing our business with a strong emphasis on addressing global environmental and social issues through achieving resource circulation and developing environmentally conscious products.
From FY 3/2026, we have adopted our new medium-term vision, Vision120, as a guiding milestone and are working to strengthen the foundation for value creation. This vision represents our determination to build a foundation that will enable us to remain a company capable of sustainable growth well into the future.
At the same time, I have been consistently communicating the term "THINK 2050" within the Group. My intention is to ensure that our employees in their twenties and thirties today will still be able to work proudly with us decades from now. I also hope to foster a vibrant corporate culture that will continue to attract new talent—even in 2050.
Accordingly, in formulating Vision120, we placed importance on reflecting the opinions of as many employees as possible, not only those from specific departments. I personally visited plants, mills and other worksites to engage in direct dialogue with employees. The outcome of these efforts is a medium-term vision that advances sustainability management as a comprehensive initiative of the Group.
In terms of the environmental aspects of sustainability management, we have been actively making environmental investments. We are on track to completely eliminate the use of coal at our paper mills by 2027, marking a major milestone. Meanwhile, we are now placing greater emphasis on environmental considerations at the product development stage. Although we maintain a high recycling rate of over 98 percent in the paperboard sector, the film sector remains at a critical juncture. To address this, we have established an internal committee to promote the creation of a circular model, including technologies such as chemical recycling. I am personally involved in these discussions as we work to establish the necessary systems.
Furthermore, the foundation of Vision120 rests on the value of a human-capital approach (people-centered management). This principle lies at the heart of our Group management and is based on the belief that when employees can work with enthusiasm and vitality, their efforts lead to meaningful results and contribute to the overall growth of the Group. Needless to say, from the perspective of human capital management, improving the work environment and job satisfaction, as well as promoting diversity, remain key challenges, and we will continue to strengthen our initiatives in these areas.
Enhancing corporate governance is also indispensable. In recent years, society's expectations for companies have become increasingly stringent, and I strongly believe that the "comply or explain" principle should be genuinely reflected in all aspects of corporate activity. Therefore, we are committed to moving beyond mere formal compliance and sincerely strengthening the substance of our governance framework.
Going forward, under the slogan "Creating the future through packaging," the Rengo Group will continue to advance sustainability management together with our diverse stakeholders.
