EcoVadis

EcoVadis is a global platform that evaluates and shares corporate sustainability performance across global supply chains.
In 2025, Rengo received the Bronze Medal, which is awarded to companies whose overall scores rank within the top 35 percent of all companies assessed.

SOMPO Sustainability Index

The SOMPO Sustainability Index is composed of approximately 300 companies with outstanding ESG initiatives, selected based on Sompo Asset Management Co., Ltd.’s proprietary evaluation. Rengo has been continuously selected for inclusion since the index was established in 2012.

MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index

The MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index is an ESG investment index provided by MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International), which selects companies with relatively strong ESG performance within each sector. Rengo has been included in this index since 2024.

Initiatives in Environmental Management

CDP Climate Change

CDP Climate Change is an international initiative that promotes disclosure of information related to climate change risks by companies and local governments. CDP, an international nonprofit organization, collects, evaluates, and discloses information through questionnaires on greenhouse gas emissions, reduction targets, risk management, and other factors. Corporate disclosure and management systems are scored in areas such as Climate Change, Forests, and Water Security, and the results are widely used by institutional investors worldwide as indicators for ESG investment.
In the 2024 assessment, Rengo received a B score for Climate Change and B minus scores for Forests and Water Security.

S&P JPX Carbon Efficient Index

The S&P JPX Carbon Efficient Index is an ESG investment index developed jointly by S&P Dow Jones Indices and Japan Exchange Group. The index determines constituent weightings based on environmental information disclosure and carbon efficiency (carbon emissions per unit of revenue) among stocks included in TOPIX.

Carbon Clean 200

Carbon Clean 200 is an index published jointly by Corporate Knights, a Canadian media and research company, and As You Sow, a US-based organization promoting ESG investment. Rengo has been selected as one of the world's publicly listed companies generating clean revenue through proactive climate change initiatives.

Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an international initiative that supports and certifies the setting of greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets based on scientific evidence.
In November 2023, Rengo obtained certification for its GHG reduction targets through FY2030 as being aligned with the 1.5 degree Celsius pathway, which aims to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Eruboshi Certification

The Eruboshi Certification is a program under which companies that have formulated and submitted an Action Plan for Empowering Female Workers, and whose implementation status is evaluated as excellent, may apply for and receive certification from the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.
Rengo was certified as an Eruboshi company in 2016 (Level 2), and in 2020 received a higher evaluation (Level 3).

Kurumin and Platinum Kurumin Certification

The Kurumin and Platinum Kurumin certifications are granted by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare to companies that have formulated an action plan under the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children, have achieved the targets set forth in the plan, and meet certain standards.
In 2018, Rengo received its fourth Kurumin certification and additionally obtained the Platinum Kurumin certification, a special certification granted to outstanding childcare support companies that practice initiatives at a higher level.

Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization Recognition Program

The Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization Program is an award system under which the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan Health Council recognize companies that strategically promote employee health management from a managerial perspective and that practice particularly excellent health and productivity management.
Rengo has been certified as a Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization 2025 (Large Enterprise Category).

External Initiatives

United Nations Global Compact

Rengo signed the United Nations Global Compact in November 2009.
The Global Compact is a program launched in 2000 at the initiative of then United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, calling on companies and organizations worldwide to support and voluntarily implement ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption.
Originating as a company founded on corrugated board, an environmentally friendly packaging material, Rengo has long upheld the slogan "Kind to people and the environment. " As a General Packaging Industry company, we have contributed to society by enhancing the value of our customers' products through packaging and presentation, and by optimizing the flow of goods.
Rengo fully supports the ten principles advocated by the Global Compact and will continue to respect its spirit while fulfilling its responsibilities as a corporate citizen.

Human Rights

  • Principle 1:Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
  • Principle 2:make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

  • Principle 4:the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
  • Principle 5:the effective abolition of child labour; and

  • Principle 7:Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
  • Principle 8:undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
  • Principle 9:encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

  • Principle 10:Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

About the United Nations Global Compact

TCFD Disclosure

TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) was established by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in response to a request from the G20 to examine climate-related information disclosure and responses by financial institutions.
In December 2021, the Rengo Group expressed its support for the TCFD recommendations and, since FY2022, has been disclosing information in line with those recommendations.
