Community EngagementAugust 1, 2025
The Paper & Culture Museum in Echizen Washi Village, Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture, is hosting a special exhibition titled "Environmental Materials Connected from the Land of Echizen Washi -Another Kind of Paper-" from July 2 (Wed.) to September 15 (Mon.), 2025. The exhibition features displays highlighting the history of the Takefu Plant and focusing on cellulose products.
Through this exhibition, we aim to provide visitors with an opportunity to learn about our commitment to cellulose product manufacturing in Echizen, a region blessed with abundant nature, as well as the potential of cellulose materials. The Takefu Plant planned the exhibition in collaboration with the Sales Promotions & Displays Sales & Marketing Group, working together to design and create the exhibition space.

The cellulose products manufactured at the Takefu Plant are made from wood and are characterized by their biodegradability. The plant produces cellulose film (cellophane), often referred to as "transparent paper." In addition, spherical cellulose beads (Viscopearl), used in fragrance samples and cosmetics, are manufactured at both the Takefu Plant and Kanazu Mill. These plants possess unique technologies that enable production of beads in various particle sizes, the only technology of its kind in the world. Viscopearl serves as a substitute for plastic beads that may enter the ocean, contributing to the reduction of marine microplastic waste, and is expected to help preserve marine environments.

Rengo continues to actively explore and develop new applications and markets for cellulose products, expanding their potential.
