Rengo Reaches Agreement with Tohoku Kogyo to Acquire Corrugated Packaging Business

Rengo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President & CEO: Kiyoshi Otsubo) announces that it has reached agreement with Tohoku Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Koriyama-shi, Fukushima Prefecture; President: Anne Patricia Kaneko) to acquire shares of a Tohoku Kogyo wholly-owned subsidiary in April 2011. Tohoku Kogyo will transfer its corrugated packaging business to the subsidiary through a corporate split.

Tohoku Kogyo has a long history as a leading corrugated packaging manufacturer and conducts business centered in Koriyama-shi in Fukushima Prefecture. In conjunction with the acquisition of the subsidiary shares, Rengo will send officers to the subsidiary to reinforce the company's management, as well as bolster Rengo's corrugated packaging business in the Tohoku region through cooperation in both manufacturing and sales and collaboration between the subsidiary and Rengo's nearby Fukushima-Yabuki Plant and other group companies.
