Rengo Wins Japan Packaging Institute 50th Kinoshita Prize Packaging Engineering Award
Rengo Co., Ltd. announces that it has won the 50th Kinoshita Prize Packaging Engineering Award presented by the Japan Packaging Institute (JPI) for its development of Bright Press, a process-consolidated decorative technique utilizing a die-cutting process.
Bright Press is a decorative technique that uses a wooden die-cut mold to carry out die cutting and embossing simultaneously. By combining clear, sharply defined embossed edges with printing or varnish, it can create designs that increase visual impact.
It reduces the number of steps compared to using separate machines for die-cutting and embossing, saving the energy needed for manufacturing. As the entire process can be carried out at a single manufacturing site, there is no need for shipping between plants, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
This technology can also be used to create Braille on packaging surfaces or raised and recessed patterns to make packaging easier to hold, supporting accessible packaging for a society that values diversity.
Rengo will continue to develop packaging material solutions based on its key concept of "Less is more.," supporting the development of a sustainable economy and society and the enrichment of people's lives.
