Rengo Wins Japan Packaging Institute Kinoshita Prize

Rengo Co., Ltd. announces that it has won the 46th Kinoshita Prize for the Improvement and Streamlining category presented by the Japan Packaging Institute (JPI) for the use of its PALMIRA—a three-dimension adjustable auto packaging system developed in Japan—in improving and streamlining the distribution center of BicCamera Inc.
Conventional packaging creates waste space in shipping boxes for some products and requires cushioning materials to fill the space, causing an issue of additional work and costs.
Responding to these issues, Rengo developed the three-dimension adjustable auto packaging system PALMIRA. After automatically measuring the product's size, it creates a shipping box with the most appropriate length, width, and height automatically while packaging the product. This way, we can contribute to reducing cushioning material and improving transportation efficiency.
Many overseas packaging systems have been introduced due to the current expansion of the e-commerce market. PALMIRA was developed as a set—domestic machinery that suits Japan's market together with packaging—based on knowledge of Rengo's e-commerce systems. This system was adopted by BicCamera and contributes to the improvement and streamlining of work at BicCamera's distribution center.
Rengo will continue to support the development of a sustainable economic society and the enrichment of peoples’ lives through the manufacturing of packaging using less resources to generate more value under the concept of “Less is more.”
