Rengo Wins 2020 Japan Packaging Contest Awards
Rengo Co., Ltd. announces that it won seven awards in six categories of the Japan Packaging Content 2020, sponsored by the Japan Packaging Institute, as described below. The contest is held annually to encourage the development and adoption of outstanding packaging and packaging technologies to meet the needs of the time and society. The winning entries will be displayed at a special booth of the 2020 Good Packaging Exhibit and Rengo's booth at the Tokyo Pack 2021 exhibition that will be held at the Tokyo Big Sight starting on February 24, 2021.
Japan Star Award (Chairman of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Award)
•Hakutsuru UKIYO-E Label Box SeriesThese gift boxes use ukiyo-e that transcend the times and fascinate people as motifs to publicize the Japanese culture of sake, to the world. A single image is formed by aligning the front and side of two boxes, and by adjusting the placement, an impactful sales display like an elegant folding screen can be created.

•Seasoning for Steam Pressure CookingCorrugated boxes for seasoning sauce pouches that are easy to open in-store and can be displayed directly on shelves.
The pouches are packaged directly in the corrugated boxes with no inner boxes, reducing the amount of packaging material and facilitating efficient transportation. Also, the sides of the boxes are perforated to enable easy opening with just two actions, reducing in-store workloads and raising work efficiency.

•ZEN-NOH Yamanashi Digital Printing Farmers Market Shipping BoxThese attractive packages are created using DEGI-PAKE, which makes use of the high-definition reproducibility of digital pre-printing and variable printing. Designed for delivery of products purchased from a farmers market as well as gifts to locations outside of the prefecture, purchasers can choose from one of three different design patterns having optical illusions intended to please both the giver and recipient.

•Xylicrystal: Easy to Display—for Sales Promotion and Transportation!These corrugated cases are easy to display and also function as transportation cases. In stores, they can be displayed simply by removing the top of the corrugated cases, and they are stackable. In addition, an eye-catching in-store display can be created by inserting the included POP advertisement, which has the potential to increase sales. Since gluing process is not needed, these corrugated cases facilitate the reduction of material costs and workloads.

•Starbucks® Coffee TravelerThis takeout container holds about 12 cups of coffee.
Freshly-brewed coffee is poured directly into the container, making it easy to enjoy Starbucks coffee in a variety of situations from business to outdoors. The container is easily carried with a single hand, and various innovations have been implemented to the structure to prevent leaks and avoid any leftover coffee being retained in the container. After use, it is easily dismantled by removing the spout pack so that the plastic and corrugated board can be separated for disposal.

•Kagami-biraki KitIn conjunction with the Japanese era name change campaign, this barrel opening (kagami-biraki) kit was provided to purchasers of a case of 24 cans of Yebisu beer as a gift.
An auspicious image of Yebisu beer, the Japanese traditional barrel opening, and the celebratory mood of the era name change were successfully fused to create this barrel-style case. The wood-grain top panel serves as a lid that is shaped to easily pop open and fall off when struck. Particular attention was paid to the material of the corrugated case to recreate the feel and sound of hitting real wood.
This gift will also satisfy DIY lovers, as they can assemble the case and mallet themselves.

•Two Ways Easy to Open Corrugated Boxes for Blendy® Bottled CoffeeThese corrugated cases adopt a new format to reduce in-store workloads and plastic waste.
Plastic tear tape that often becomes industrial waste after opening cases in the store is not used and the top and sides of the case are perforated to enable effortless and fast opening. The specs allow for two different methods of opening for use in stores or at home. In addition, the cases are designed to avoid any decrease in strength from the perforations.
