Rengo Officer Wins Japan TAPPI FY2020 Okawa Award
Rengo Co., Ltd. announces that Managing Executive Officer Hiroshi Ebihara has won the FY2020 Okawa Award presented by the Japan Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (Japan TAPPI).
The Japan TAPPI created the Fujiwara, Okawa, and Saeki Awards to commemorate the tremendous achievements in the development of the pulp and paper industry by Ginjiro Fujiwara, Heizaburo Okawa, Katsutaro Saeki and to recognize individuals who have made substantial contributions to the pulp and paper industry. Of these, the Okawa Award is named for Heizaburo Okawa, a leading pioneer in mechanical technology, and is presented to engineers that have contributed to the development of mechanical technology in the pulp and paper field over many years.
Managing Executive Officer Ebihara began working for Settsu Paperboard Mfg. Co., Ltd (currently Rengo) in 1977, where he worked on the front lines of manufacturing in paper mills. He took the initiative in introducing new technologies based on innovative ideas throughout the entire process from raw material preparation to papermaking, contributing substantially to the development and improvement of Japan's paperboard manufacturing technology. He has also worked at Rengo Group overseas papermaking company and engaged in management from a global perspective.
Managing Executive Officer Ebihara currently works at Rengo's head office, and as the officer responsible for the R&D and Engineering Unit including the Paperboard Production Group, he is broadly involved in the company's management.
The award presentation ceremony was held at the Pulp & Paper Building in Ginza, Tokyo on October 8 during the regular general meeting of the Japan TAPPI.
