Rengo Wins Japan Packaging Institute Kinoshita Packaging Technology Prize

Rengo Co., Ltd. announces that it has won the 44th Kinoshita Prize for packaging technology presented by the Japan Packaging Institute (JPI) for development of Rengo Smart Display Packaging (RSDP).
Development of RSDP, which performs the functions of transporting, displaying, and selling, started in 2013, and it was announced at Tokyo Pack in 2014. With repeated improvement that takes into consideration conditions in the fields of distribution and efforts to encourage widespread adoption afterwards, RSDP has been broadly recognized for its ability to solve the problem of labor shortages in stores. It is now used for a wide range of applications including foodstuffs, beverages, consumer goods, and fruits and vegetables.
Rengo developed a total of eight series of products tailored to specific formats and applications. All types can be easily opened by anyone without using a box cutter and then displayed. Rengo also offers products that use existing packing lines, but when new packing lines are considered, automated types with high productivity can be selected.
Compared to conventional boxes, RSDP saves time, reduces the effort of opening and displaying products, and enhances product visibility, with the potential to promote sales. RSDP integrates Rengo's technological capabilities tailored to the characteristics of Japan's retail market, responding to labor shortages and achieving low-cost operations by increasing work efficiency from packaging to logistics and retail operations.
With “Less is more.” as its keyword, Rengo will continue to support the development of a sustainable economy and society and prosperous lifestyles by creating packaging that generates high-value using fewer resources.
