Rengo Wins World Packaging Organization's WorldStar Awards for Four Products

Rengo Co., Ltd. announces that it has won WorldStar awards for four products at the 2020 WorldStar Contest, hosted by the World Packaging Organization (WPO).
The four products, which are detailed below, were also prizewinners at the Japan Packaging Contest 2019. Winning the WorldStar Awards demonstrates that their usefulness has been recognized globally.

    Nagashima Resort Sugoroku Castella Rusk

This is a gift box developed as a new souvenir that conveys the appeal of the Nagashima Resort (located in Kuwana-shi, Mie Prefecture).
After the box's contents are removed, the box opens up to become a Sugoroku board printed with the rides and scenery of Nagashima Resort. There is no need for scissors or glue as dice and pieces can be separated along the perforations by hand, allowing people to enjoy playing Sugoroku anytime, anywhere with nothing more than the box.

Mitsuya Cider Biomass Label Printed Using Rice Ink

This roll label for beverages is the first in Japan to use rice ink for printing. Rice ink uses Japanese rice bran as one of its ingredients, and has significantly less environmental impact than conventional ink.
In addition, polylactic acid (PLA) film is used for the base film, resulting in an overall plant-derived material utilization rate of at least 80% of the label.

    YEBISU Beer Gift Box
(Goldfish/YEBISU Beer & YEBISU THE HOP 2018 Assortment)

This is a gift box containing six cans of YEBISU beer whose concept is based on the Japanese culture of carefully wrapping gifts in furoshiki—the traditional Japanese cloth used for wrapping. The handle resembles the knot of a furoshiki and there is a message card printed inside the box, expressing the Japanese people's attention to detail when giving a gift.
The package brings a seasonal flavor to stores through its texture, which imitates dyed fabric, and the summer motif of the illustrations.

Improvement to Packaging of Electric Noise Filter

This is corrugated packaging that significantly reduces the amount of packaging material used by adopting a simple design that props up the product's circuit board from below using a base support made from corrugated board while holding the circuit board's edge in place using an inner lining cut-out.
Electronic components exposed on the circuit board are protected by corrugated board without direct contact, thereby achieving significant results in packaging volume, the amount of packaging materials used, life-cycle assessment (LCA), and packaging cost, even for products which are difficult to package. This helps reduce environmental impact.
