Rengo Acquires Biomaterial in Tokyo Co., Ltd.

Rengo Co., Ltd. announces that it has acquired 60% of the shares issued by Biomaterial in Tokyo Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "bits"), making bits a Rengo subsidiary.
Bits is a bio venture firm researching technologies that use microorganisms and enzymes. The company's strengths include technology utilizing biomass that does not compete with food to produce saccharide, bioethanol, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and other materials, as well as the acquisition of Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) certifications.
As announced on February 20, 2024, Taiko Paper Mfg., Ltd., a Rengo subsidiary, is conducting a demonstration project to produce second-generation bioethanol in partnership with bits, in which the technology owned by bits plays a key role.
By acquiring bits, in addition to enhancing the stability of the company's management base and supporting technological transfer, the Rengo Group will deepen collaboration in research and development and accelerate initiatives toward realizing a carbon-free society through the development of biorefinery technology that has been built by bits.
