Rengo Wins Bronze Award in Pentawards 2014 Worldwide Packaging Design Competition

Rengo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; Chairman, President & CEO: Kiyoshi Otsubo) announces that the company has won a Bronze Award in the “Confectionary and sweet snacks” of the Food Categories of the Pentawards 2014 worldwide packaging design competition.

The aim of the Pentawards is to widely promote awareness of packaging design as a communication tool that is even more important than advertising and promotion. It is known as the world's most rigorous and impartial packaging design competition. The awards ceremony was held on October 9, 2014 at the Palace Hotel Tokyo (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). This is the fourth consecutive year that Rengo has won the award.

Rengo's award-winning design for Shofuku Yokan (“good luck” azuki-bean jelly) from Imuraya Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tsu-shi, Mie Prefecture, President: Takeshi Maeyama) features illustrated packaging that makes the various auspicious items of Japan feel more familiar, with the aim of making the traditional Japanese sweet yokan accepted among a broader range of generations, including young people. It evokes a new form of yokan that is not only rich in flavor, but also fun to look at.

The value of a product is enhanced through its packaging. The Rengo Group, and its Design and Marketing Center in particular, will continue contributing to customers’ product development, sales promotion and image enhancement by offering comprehensive design and packaging solutions.

As a “General Packaging Industry” (GPI), Rengo seeks to become a comprehensive packaging provider that actively proposes solutions to fulfill all the packaging needs of various industries through continual innovation. Rengo accepts this award as encouragement to continue creating new value in packaging.
