Rengo's Takefu Plant Biotope Certified as "Nature Symbiosis Site"

Rengo Co., Ltd. announces that its biotope at the Takefu Plant was certified as a "nature symbiosis site" for the first half of FY2024 for the first time in Fukui. This marks the second certification for Rengo, following the Fukushima Yabuki Plant biotope (certified in the second half of FY2023).
The Takefu Plant has been manufacturing cellulose products made from wood pulp since 1934. These environmentally friendly products are decomposed into water and carbon dioxide by microorganisms in nature (in the soil and ocean). The biotope on the premises uses water from the clear Jisa River, creating an environment where rare organisms can grow.
"Nature symbiosis sites" refers to areas where biodiversity conservation is being promoted through private sector initiatives, and the Ministry of the Environment launched a certification system in FY2023. Areas certified as "nature symbiosis sites" are registered as "OECMs*1" in the international database, excluding overlaps with protected areas such as national parks.
Through the expansion of nature symbiosis sites, Rengo will continue to proactively engage in harmonization with the local natural environment to achieve Nature Positive*2 and "30by30."
