    Rengo's Shin-Kyoto Plant Wins
the 3rd Nagaokakyo “Eco Capital” Prize

Rengo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President & CEO: Kiyoshi Otsubo) announces that its Shin-Kyoto Plant recently won the 3rd Nagaokakyo “Eco Capital” Prize at the award ceremony held at the Nagaokakyo Eco Fair/15th Eco Forum by Citizen.

This prize, based on the intent of the Nagaokakyo Eco City Declaration, awards individuals, groups, and businesses that contribute to protecting the abundant environment of Nagaokakyo and creating a sustainable city that coexists with the natural environment.

Rengo is proactively carrying out environment-related initiatives through its packaging based on the key phrase of “Less Weight, Less Carbon.” Together with the merging of the former Kyoto Plant and the former Katsura Plant in 2008, 400 kW panels were installed on the roof of the Shin-Kyoto Plant for solar power generation—the largest scale in Nagaokakyo. Through these efforts, approximately 150 tons of CO2 emissions have been reduced annually. Various other environmentally friendly initiatives at the plant and in the region were also highly evaluated.
