Rengo Establishes New Subsidiary in Hawaii

Rengo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President & CEO: Kiyoshi Otsubo) announces that it established a new subsidiary, Rengo Packaging, Inc., in Hawaii. Rengo Packaging acquired the entire corrugated box and other packaging sales business of Hawaii Box & Packaging, Inc. (HBP).

After Hawaii's only corrugated plant closed in 2008 and the plant's operators received requests from plant customers to continue supplying corrugated packaging, HBP was established to supply packaging materials purchased from the American mainland.

Rengo recently received a request from HBP's shareholders to take over its business, and Rengo decided to meet that request.

Rengo will assign an executive officer to Rengo Packaging and work to strengthen packaging material supply structures in Hawaii while expanding its overseas business, one of Rengo's core business fields.

Rengo Packaging will employ all existing employees of HBP and will continue to operate from the current HBP office and warehouse at 99-1230 Waiua Place, Aiea, HI 96701. HBP President, Robert Cundiff, will retain his position as President of Rengo Packaging.

The company is expected to start operations on June 1, 2011.
