Rengo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President & CEO: Kiyoshi Otsubo) announces that, together with Harada Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President: Hisao Harada), it has developed and launched Full Guard Cloth Pro, a professional cloth kitchen wipe using Cellgaia.

Cellgaia, a patented product developed by Rengo, is a pulp in which zeolite has been crystallized inside cellulose fiber at a high density. It uses no binders to maintain the zeolite, its constituent percentage can be adjusted, and it is not depleted with use.

Zeolites are known for their powerful deodorization and antibacterial effects when supported by metals such as copper ion and silver ion. They are contained in such items as antiperspirant sprays, body wipers, and mold inhibitors. Cellgaia makes maximum use of the superior properties of these zeolites. It is a high-performance material that has powerful deodorization and antibacterial effects and has various applications.

Because it uses material consisting of nonwoven spun lace fabric containing Cellgaia, Full Guard Cloth Pro has been developed as a product which gives a powerful antibacterial effect to cloth wipes used in commercial kitchens where sanitation is difficult, and which reduces the risk of a food poisoning outbreak.

Because this product has strength and dries quickly, it easily wipes away spilled liquids and shows superior deodorization and antibacterial effects just by being moistened with water. The combined effect produced by the supporting copper ion in Cellgaia makes its superior antibacterial effect long-lasting, and it does not give off the peculiar unpleasant odor that damp cloths have.

The product contributes greatly to kitchen sanitation, as it can be combined with the ordinary maintenance methods of sterilization by boiling, or with alcohol, or with hypochlorous acid. It is already seeing favorable reception in large chain restaurants.

It has been confirmed that the antibacterial power of Cellgaia suppresses the growth of bacteria that cause food poisoning. (Based on JIS L 1902, 0.4g used for one medium)

It has also been confirmed that it has a constraining effect on the growth of the norovirus, the most typical type of food poisoning viruses. (Evaluated with alternative virus “feline calicivirus”)

When a clean table was wiped with a cloth imbued with Staphylococcus aureus that had then been stored for 30 minutes, a stamp type of culture medium was held against the place that had been wiped, and live bacteria were collected and cultured for 24 hours at 37 degrees Celsius.
Results confirmed that the table was kept clean. Whereas with a commercial rayon cloth the bacteria surviving in the cloth were transferred to the table, with Full Guard Cloth Pro no bacteria were transferred to the table since the bacteria in the cloth were dead.
