Less Weight, Less Carbon—This is a key phrase of the Rengo Group, where we believe environmental initiatives are an important issue in our operations.
A good example of this is the Fukushima-Yabuki Plant, which opened in May 2010 at Yabuki-machi in Nishishirakawa-gun, Fukushima Prefecture.
Featuring a total of around 9,000 solar panels—which supply all of the plant’s daytime electricity needs and make this one of the largest projects of its kind in Japan—alongside use of clean energy in the form of liquid natural gas (LNG), and a diverse range of energy-saving equipment, the Fukushima-Yabuki plant is the ideal corrugated plant for the 21st century and represents the crystallization of all the expertise in environmental technology that Rengo has accumulated up to now.
By making maximum use of naturally available resources and promoting energy recovery and recycling, we have achieved a CO2 emissions reduction of around 40% compared to the previous plant.
The C-flute corrugated board manufactured here, which is 1 mm thinner than A-flute board, is a super-eco-friendly corrugated board that perfectly embodies the concept of Less Weight, Less Carbon.
