Shin-Sendai Plant

The Sendai Plant suffered extensive damage during the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011. The Shin-Sendai Plant is a new facility that was constructed over the short period of just one year, in order to convey the message that “We will not leave Miyagi.” This new plant has helped secure employment, and serves as a symbol for post-disaster reconstruction by helping to play a leading role in reviving the local economy. “Isshin no To (Tower of Unity),” a monument signifying hopes for a bright future and the bond between people who have joined hands in reconstruction and revitalization efforts, watches over the energetic state of the Tohoku region.
